Dear Equine Therapists, Chiropractors & Bodyworkers,

The number of equine professionals who recognize signs of ill-fitting saddles is far too few. Interestingly there’s a good deal of overlap between the two professions. Skilled saddle-fitters truly require an understanding of anatomy and biomechanics and therapists (and chiropractors) are limited when they fail to recognize the influence of saddle-fit.

I’ve fit thousands of horses with sore backs - caused by their saddles - all while receiving regular bodywork … yet no one brought it up.

Ill-fitting saddles leave signature postures and patterns, opening the door for you to observe the saddle in motion. This is where you begin to build your saddle assessment eye and is the basis of this course. Adding this dimension to your professional skillset is a new level of expertise in the making - one that’s desperately called for in our industry.

I’ll be very clear - this is NOT a saddle-fitting course but live training on recognizing the impact and prevalence of ill-fitting saddles in your existing clientele.

I have a saying – a saddle makes or breaks every stride of every ride.

So often riders settle for subpar performance, extended warm-up periods, lack of suppleness, and undesirable equine behavior – all because their saddles are causing them harm. Routine bodywork helps but certain patterns and problems persist. The back never feels as supple as it could, certain tension patterns remain... Saddle issues are whole horse issues – affecting everything from mood, muscle development, hoof growth, digestion and more.

“Excluding epizootic diseases, it would be difficult to find any cause of inefficiency among army horses equal to that produced by saddle injuries.”

~ Animal Management 1933 Veterinary Department of the War Office

As equine professionals, it’s our duty to advocate for the horse. The worst and most common offender… the saddle - making it a vital need for more eyes on the ground.

I can’t wait to welcome you to Saddle Assessment for Equine Bodyworkers. See you on the inside,

Holly

Her clients unlock their true potential using her rider-centric, neuro-based approach.

Her innate ability to spot and resolve performance blocks, tempering the nervous system, harnessing the foundations of movement and optimizing the fit of equipment, enables clients to create quantum leaps in their riding performance.

The majority of ridden horses (amateur to olympic) work in pain and ill-fitting tack. The industry has normalized this pain in horse and rider to the point that it’s seldom recognized or even acknowledged.

One of her greatest achievements to date is the invention and implementation of the world’s very first patrol saddle, designed specifically for horse and rider comfort and longevity of the mounted patrol horse.
